Dubai government’s investment in Kashmir a big win over India’s Imran government: Ex-Pakistan envoy

Abdul Basit, who was Pakistan’s ambassador to India, said that the economic agreement of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir with the Dubai government is a big blow to the foreign policy of the Imran Khan government of Pakistan. This proves that Pakistan has given the entire land to India.  

An economic agreement was signed between the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the Government of Dubai on Monday at the Raj Bhavan in Srinagar. In which an agreement was made to increase the infrastructure and industries in the Jammu and Kashmir region. This MoU is a big success for India. 

In his YouTube blog, former Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit said that the members of the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) have always put Pakistan’s sensitivities on Kashmir at the forefront in the context of both Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir. Criticizing the foreign policy of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Basit said that it is clear that the Pakistan government has proved to be a failure in this matter.

Basit, who was Pakistan’s ambassador to India from 2014 to 2017, said, “Pakistan feels that it is ahead of other Muslim nations and the IOC on the Kashmir issue. It may be that they have not been very vocal, but they have not acted against our sentiments on Kashmir.” He added, “There should be efforts to find a solution. But is it acceptable that everything is one sided and the land (Kashmir) has been handed over to India. Now the situation is that Muslim nations are signing MoUs with India.” 

Earlier on Monday, on the economic agreement of the Jammu and Kashmir administration with the Dubai government, Union Minister Piyush Goyal had said that this agreement will become an example in front of the world. This agreement will change the face of Kashmir. He had also said that this agreement with the Dubai government is an example, after which people from all over the world will know Kashmir and come forward to invest here.
