5 rockets fired at Kabul airport before America leaves Afghan, Akhundzada in preparation for huge rally

Kabul.
The United States is ready to complete its withdrawal from Afghanistan. 31st August is the last date. Just earlier on Monday, rockets took off in the Afghan capital Kabul. A US official told Reuters news agency that five rockets fired at Kabul airport were intercepted by a US anti-missile system. So far no one has claimed responsibility for this attack.
US-led rescue flights have triggered an exodus of frightened people since the radical Islamist Taliban took power in Afghanistan. The US has rescued more than 114,000 people from Kabul airport. However, the campaign which officially ended on Tuesday will come to an end. Thousands of American soldiers will leave Afghan.
There were earlier attacks on Kabul airport,
the biggest threat to a US withdrawal after Taliban rivals the Islamic State group carried out a suicide bombing at the airport late last week. More than 100 people, including 13 American soldiers, lost their lives in this attack. Biden warned that more attacks were likely. The United States said it launched an airstrike on a vehicle loaded with explosives in Kabul on Sunday night.
On Sunday, people in Kabul heard explosions in the
city, according to AFP journalists, followed by rockets flying over Kabul on Monday morning. People living near the airport said they heard the missile defense system being activated. Smoke was also seen rising near the airport. A Taliban spokesman confirmed Sunday’s incident, saying a car bomb was destroyed near the airport.
The United States has been accused of killing many civilians in airstrikes throughout the war. This is also a major reason for America losing local support. “We are aware of reports of civilian casualties following an attack on a vehicle in Kabul today,” US Central Command spokesman Captain Bill Urban said in a statement. Urban said that the US military is investigating this matter. “We are deeply saddened by any possible loss of innocent lives,” he said.
Taliban leader : The Taliban have promised a softer regime than in their first term in power, which was ended by the US military because they harbored al-Qaeda. Many Afghans fear a repeat of violent retaliation by the Taliban for its brutal interpretation of Islamic law, as well as for working with foreign forces, Western missions or the previous US-backed government.
On Sunday, the Taliban revealed that their supreme leader Hibatullah Akhundzada is in southern Afghanistan and is planning a public appearance. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said, “He is present in Kandahar. He has been living there since the beginning.” The leader’s deputy spokesman, Bilal Karimi, said: “He will appear in public soon.”
